With its practicality and viral appeal, this packing spreadsheet is quickly becoming a must-have tool for travelers everywhere!
Packing for a trip just got a lot simpler, thanks to an innovative spreadsheet. While there’s no shortage of advice for packing efficiently—ranging from choosing the right suitcase to using packing cubes or even assembling a personalized lookbook—one viral TikTok hack is shaking up the game. The secret? A straightforward Excel spreadsheet.
This organizational method comes from TikTok user Luke Scarpino, whose video showcasing his packing strategy has attracted over 8.8 million views, 1.2 million likes, and 29,000 comments. The overwhelming response even prompted Scarpino to share a free downloadable template for anyone looking to up their packing game.
In his video, Scarpino demonstrates how he organizes every item he plans to pack, assigning it to a specific bag. He uses checkboxes to track what’s packed and what’s missing, making the process seamless. The spreadsheet also includes a filter function, allowing him to view items bag by bag for a more focused approach.
“People always tease me about how I pack, but I just think I’m super organized,” Scarpino says in the video, jokingly asking, “Am I weird for this?”
The internet answered with a unanimous “no,” with countless viewers requesting the template for their own use. Even major brands joined the conversation. Google, through its TikTok account, called the idea “so beautiful,” while Tripadvisor chimed in with, “Is it normal? No. Is it the most beautiful thing we’ve seen? Yes.” Utz Snacks playfully inquired if there was a dedicated section for snacks, and Booking.com humorously declared, “We have no choice but to stan.”
One commenter highlighted an added benefit of the spreadsheet: it serves as a built-in inventory in case your luggage is lost during travel. Scarpino also pointed out another advantage, saying, “The best part is that if you use the same list when packing for your return trip, you’ll never leave anything behind at the hotel.”
